A HORSE TALE

An old local labourer owned a very poorly fed cart horse. The man was in the habit of ‘writing himself off” of a Saturday evening.

There was a kind hearted Sergeant at Gnowangerup, and as he was checking on closing hour and seeing the man sitting up in the cart totally inebriated, drove the cart round to the police station.

He deposited the man in the cell to sleep it off, unharnessed the horse and gave it a good feed.

Every evening thereafter when the man was too drunk to drive the horse home, it would trot around to the police station where the Sergeant would find it and give it the only good feed it ever got!
